About the role
Job Responsibilities:
- Constructs, alters, and repairs a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to very close tolerance
- Sets up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts
- Studies specifications, engineering blueprints, tool orders
- Draws preliminary sketches, prepares layout and detail drawings
- Develop strategies for fabricating designed dies using most suitable to machining resources
- Meets all quality and efficiency expectations
- Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Education minimum 4 years of high school/vocational school, completion of apprentice program a plus.
- Work experience minimum of 3 years
- Ability to read/write English
- Interpret engineering specifications, including operative sheets, drawings, and sketches
- Mathematical aptitude: demonstrated ability for using shop mathematics including geometric and trigonometric formulas
- Work with close dimensional tolerances and use all types of precision measuring instruments
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Able to work independently
- Knowledge of machine shop practices and operations
