About the role
- Prepare pleadings initiating an estate or guardianship court proceeding
- Monitor and maintain files for estate administration, trust administration and guardianship
- Review estate planning, will and trust documents
- Prepare trust administration documents (i.e., acceptances of trustees, resignations and declinations of trustees)
- Prepare trust and estate accounting
- Draft memorandums and correspondence
- Manage communication amongst Attorneys, clients, beneficiaries and family members
- Monitor trust and estate accounts, including payment of monthly expenses of an trust or estate
- Research asset and debt information for trusts and estates
- Prepare deeds, transfer of vehicles, brokerage accounts and distributions in cash for the transfer of assets to beneficiaries
- Assemble necessary documents for a trust and estate administration tax return (i.e., estate tax, income tax and gift tax returns)
- Collaborate on preparation of tax returns
- Estate and guardianship legal research pertaining to issues
