Porter | Commercial Office, NYC | $32-$34 per hour Your new company Hays Facilities Management are partnered with a leading building owner to hire a Porter for a key commercial office property in Midtown. Your new role The job duties of the Porter will include, among others: Operate and monitor the freight elevator, manage vendor/delivery access, and maintain visitor sign-in/out logs. Support fire life safety and emergency preparedness, including monthly inspections, communication testing, fire extinguisher checks, tenant fire brigade training, and compliance with FDNY regulations. Perform routine building maintenance and janitorial duties throughout common areas, lobbies, stairwells, vacant spaces, roof, basement, boiler room, and elevator areas. Conduct regular inspections to identify and report safety hazards, leaks, pest issues, maintenance deficiencies, and potential FDNY/DOB violations. Assist with light repairs and maintenance, including painting, patching, light carpentry, basic plumbing, electrical work, and bulb replacements. Support building operations through garbage and recycling management, snow and ice removal, sidewalk cleaning, and sump pump/fire escape inspections. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, elevator service providers, and building management to ensure smooth facility operations. Provide coverage for building staff when needed, including lobby security desk and freight elevator operations. Maintain a proactive presence throughout the property to ensure a safe, clean, compliant, and efficiently operated commercial building environment. What you'll need to succeed The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following: F-89 Fire & Life Safety Director (FLSD) (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment).F-01 Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment.• S12 City Wide Sprinkler Systems.• S13 City Wide Standpipe Systems.• C-92 COF (Supervision of Storage, Handling and Use of Flammable or Combustible Materials.*Must be able to work the following hours: Mon-Fri, 10-7pm*What you'll get in return Hourly rate $32-$34 Additional compensation will include medical and dental benefits package, PTO, and 401K with a company match.
