Role Description: The Estimator role at Stonehouse Quartz & Granite is a full-time, on-site position based in Urbandale, IA. The Estimator is responsible for reviewing project plans, drawings, and measurements to prepare accurate material and labor cost estimates for quartz and granite installations. Daily responsibilities include analyzing job specifications, performing takeoffs, preparing detailed quotes, and communicating with customers, sales staff, and project managers to clarify requirements and timelines. The Estimator maintains pricing databases, updates cost information, and collaborates with the production and installation teams to ensure estimates align with actual workflows and capacity. The role also involves tracking changes in project scope, revising estimates as needed, and supporting scheduling and planning activities to help projects run efficiently and on budget.
Qualifications: Experience in construction or stone fabrication estimating, including reading blueprints and performing material takeoffs. Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop accurate cost breakdowns and budgets. Proficiency with office and estimating software (e.g., spreadsheets, CRM or estimating tools) and comfort working with digital measurements. Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, sales teams, and installation crews. High attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Familiarity with quartz, granite, or related building materials and general construction practices is preferred. Ability to work on-site in Urbandale, IA, Relevant education or training in construction management, drafting, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
