Position Overview: Dawn Education Services is seeking a Texas-licensed school psychologist (LSSP) to provide evaluation services to school districts and charter schools in the Mission/Rio Grande Valley area. This is an evaluation-only subcontractor position designed to assist with overflow evaluations when additional support is needed. There is no guaranteed or required minimum number of evaluations. The volume will vary based on district needs, but the position may include approximately 3–4 evaluations per month. This opportunity is ideal for a school psychologist seeking flexible supplemental contract work without taking on a full-time caseload.
Responsibilities: The contracted school psychologist may be responsible for:
  • Conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and reevaluations
  • Reviewing existing evaluation data and educational records
  • Selecting and administering appropriate assessment instruments
  • Conducting in-person standardized testing with students
  • Completing classroom observations, interviews, and rating scales as needed
  • Interpreting cognitive, academic, social-emotional, behavioral, adaptive, and autism-related assessment data as applicable
  • Completing Full and Individual Evaluations (FIEs) and other evaluation reports
  • Developing clear, legally defensible evaluation conclusions and recommendations
  • Completing reports within required special education timelines
  • Collaborating with Dawn Education Services and campus/district personnel when clarification or additional information is needed
  • Participating in evaluation-related consultation as necessary
This position is primarily evaluation-focused and does not include an ongoing counseling or intervention caseload. Schedule & Work Arrangement This position offers a high level of flexibility. The contractor may generally create their own schedule while ensuring that student testing is completed during appropriate school hours and evaluation timelines are met. The position is hybrid: In-person: Student testing, observations, or other activities requiring campus attendance
Remote: Report writing, record review, scoring, interpretation, and other evaluation-related documentation may be completed from home There are no set weekly hours and no guaranteed minimum number of evaluations. Assignments will be offered based on overflow needs and contractor availability.
Qualifications:
  • RequiredCurrent Texas licensure as a Licensed School Psychologist (LSP)
  • Proof of individual professional liability insurance is required prior to beginning services.
  • Eligible to provide school psychological services in Texas
  • Knowledge of federal and Texas special education evaluation requirements
  • Experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations
  • Strong assessment interpretation and report-writing skills
  • Ability to independently manage evaluation timelines and assigned cases
  • Reliable transportation for in-person services in the Rio Grande Valley
  • Ability to successfully complete any district-required background checks, fingerprinting, or contractor onboarding requirements

  • CaseloadThis is an as-needed overflow position rather than a traditional assigned caseload.
  • Evaluation volume may fluctuate throughout the school year. The anticipated workload may be approximately 3–4 evaluations per month, although some months may have fewer or additional opportunities.
  • Contractors may accept assignments based on their availability.
Compensation: Compensation will be provided on a contract/per-evaluation basis and will vary depending on the type and complexity of the evaluation. Specific rates and expectations will be discussed prior to accepting assignments.
