About the role
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Food Science, or a related field preferred
- Experience Requirements
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or Buyer in the food manufacturing industry
- Experience sourcing food ingredients and packaging materials
- Knowledge of vendor qualification, purchasing contracts, and supply chain processes
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software preferred
- Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skillsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Source and negotiate with vendors and brokers for food ingredients and baked goods materials
- Ensure purchased products meet exact specifications and quality requirements
- Review and manage supplier contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
- Coordinate purchasing activities with production and planning teams to maintain supply continuity
- Procure packaging materials including films, containers, and printed packaging components
- Monitor market trends and pricing to achieve cost control goals
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Resolve supply chain issues, delays, and quality concerns in a timely manner
- Track inventory needs and purchasing timelines to support production schedules
- Support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance initiatives
