About the role

ABGi USA is partnering with an established manufacturing client in the oil & gas / industrial valve space to identify an experienced Engineering/Design Managerto lead and continue developing its engineering function. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on engineering leader who enjoys being close to the product, improving processes, developing a team, and taking ownership of engineering and design from concept through production.
What You’ll Do:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Engineering Department while fostering accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle, including new product design, development, modification, testing, and implementation
  • Manage engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and design controls
  • Ensure products and designs meet applicable industry codes, quality standards, and customer requirements
  • Drive process optimization and maintain strong quality control throughout the engineering function
  • Partner closely with manufacturing, production, quality, and other cross‑functional teams
  • Manage multiple engineering projects, priorities, timelines, and resources
  • Provide technical leadership to internal team members and external engineering partners
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s Degree preferred 5+ years of engineering/design experience within oil & gas, valve manufacturing, or a related industrial environment
  • Previous experience leading or managing an engineering function/team
  • Experience with valves, actuation, piping systems, or related equipment strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks, MathCAD, FEA and/or CFDFamiliarity with applicable industry standards such as API 6D, API 6A, MSS-SP-81, and ASMEStrong understanding of design modifications, engineering documentation, quality control, and manufacturing processes
  • Confident, proactive leadership style with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
