About the role

C.V. Starr Postdoctoral Research Associate Endowed by the Starr Foundation, the CV Starr Fellowship program supports postdoctoral positions for neuroscientists with exceptional skills and potential. The CV Starr Fellows Program encourages collaboration across fields, new perspectives and novel approaches, and promotes the Institute as an international center of excellence. Postdoctoral Research Associates are expected to pursue their research with the guidance and mentorship of one or more core faculty members in the Institute. Work at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute spans from molecular, cellular, and genetic approaches to systems and human cognitive neuroscience, and houses state of the art facilities for experimental research in all of these areas, as well as advanced computational resources that support theoretical and quantitative approaches to neuroscience. The C.V. Starr Fellowship program provides an attractive salary and a modest research budget. Candidates must apply online at We encourage applicants to reach out to their prospective PNI faculty mentor(s) to gauge interest and discuss their research proposal prior to applying. Appointments are for one year and are renewable for up to two additional years based on performance and meeting all other requirements. A PhD is required at the time of appointment. The department seeks applicants at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Associate. Applications should include a 2-page research proposal; the candidate's C.V.; a cover letter; and three letters of recommendation: - one from the candidate's current advisor (either Ph.D. advisor or postdoctoral advisor, depending on the candidate's current career stage), - a second letter from the candidate's prospective (or current) advisor at PNI, who should be either Core or Associated faculty at PNI. - and a third letter from a scientist who has knowledge of the candidate and their work A review committee will weigh multiple factors in evaluating applications, including the quality and prospective impact of the research proposal, and the strength of the candidate's C.V. (scaled by years relative to graduation, meaning that the more time elapsed since graduation, the stronger the expected publication record). Applicants working across all areas of neuroscience-related research are strongly encouraged to apply. Deadline for submission is November 6, 2026. Decisions are expected by late November. For inquires, contact the faculty lead, Carlos Brody. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. Princeton University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
