About the role
Mechanical Design Engineer | Custom Machinery & Automation Direct Hire | Full-Time | No Travel Take Your Mechanical Designs from Concept to Reality! Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop custom machinery, industrial equipment, and automation systems. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, innovative machine design, and seeing projects through from initial concept to final implementation. You'll collaborate with mechanical, electrical controls, and manufacturing teams to develop reliable, cost-effective equipment while supporting fabrication, assembly, and startup.
Key Responsibilities:
Design mechanical systems and components for custom machinery and automated equipment. Develop concepts, 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and component layouts. Create bills of materials (BOMs), design calculations, and manufacturing documentation. Translate project specifications into practical mechanical engineering solutions. Collaborate with electrical controls, project engineering, and manufacturing teams. Support equipment fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, and commissioning. Conduct design reviews and ensure projects meet performance, quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, design efficiency, and manufacturing processes.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.2+ years of mechanical design experience with industrial equipment, custom machinery, or automated systems. Proficiency with CAD software and engineering documentation. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles. Ability to develop and interpret detailed engineering drawings. Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
Custom machine building or industrial automation. Pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical motion systems. Hands-on fabrication, machine assembly, or equipment integration.
