About the role

Pay Range: $44.45hr - $49.45hr Job Overview: As a contractor with the Design Liaison Engineering (DLE) team, the candidate will be an active contributor to the Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE) organization, providing design engineering support to global supply chain partners. The team is essential for maintaining high technical rigor to ensure product quality while working with urgency to drive customer fulfillment. The DLE Lead Mechanical Engineer, on the Mission-Based Quality Team, will be dedicated to the qualification support of a specific domain within the Gas Turbine. Working alongside manufacturing and quality, the candidate will be responsible for the engineering definition and execution of robust qualifications with technical rigor, quality, and attention to detail to ensure the qualified Global Supply Chain can consistently manufacture conforming parts. The ultimate goal is to deliver timely and optimal solutions for customers through an ongoing focus on lean and cost-effective manufacturing qualification strategies across internal factories and external suppliers, dispositioning unqualified hardware (NCNs and SDRs), and applying lean principles to drive innovation and productivity toward a zero-defect culture. This is a hands-on role requiring collaboration across engineering teams, suppliers, factories, materials, quality, and sourcing to solve complex manufacturing challenges for gas turbine components and assemblies.
Responsibilities: Execute Gas Turbine qualification strategy through diligent and collaborative ownership of DLE qualifications. Work as a member of the qualification team to ensure proper application of design templates, processes, and QMS standards through the engineering definition and execution of robust qualification milestones. Foster and employ a safety-first, zero-defect mindset, stopping work when conditions are unsafe until safety is restored. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Global Supply Chain, Quality, GTE NPI Design, MPE, PDE, Sourcing, Materials, and Controlled Title Holders. Apply strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills to drive quality and continuous improvement within both internal factories and external suppliers. Design for producibility and lean flow to optimize manufacturing processes. Ensure clear, accurate documentation of each qualification step. Execute standard work for common issues encountered while identifying creative ways to improve processes, design methods, and manufacturing methods. Support cost reduction and GSC Factory Built In Quality efforts.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field from an accredited institution. Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Relevant experience designing gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery. Ability and willingness to challenge the status quo and deliver the best products. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build trust with team members in a cross-functional global organization. Strong organizational and project management skills. Strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to manage and execute tasks on-time with team members in global locations and rapidly shift day-to-day priorities based on emerging business needs. Experience working with manufacturing shops and processes, well-versed in lean manufacturing methods. Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings and BoMs. Proficiency with Ansys, NX, and other analytical tools. Experience in programming with Python, VBA, and/or other languages. Humble, open-minded, self-motivated, and a continuous learner.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
