Legal Documentation Negotiator – Major Global Financial Institution Confidential Search | New York A leading global financial institution is seeking a Legal Documentation Negotiator to join its U.S. Legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal documentation professional with strong experience negotiating derivatives, collateral and financing documentation to join a sophisticated, high-performing organization. The role will support a broad range of trading businesses, including FX, Rates, Prime Brokerage, Securities, cash markets and repo, and will involve working with hedge funds, private funds, asset managers, corporates and other institutional counterparties.
Key Responsibilities: Draft, review and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, Schedules, CSAs, MRAs/GMRAs, Account Control Agreements, prime brokerage and FX agreements, and related documentation. Negotiate key legal and risk provisions, including netting, collateral and termination rights. Review counterparty documentation, legal opinions and related materials to assess capacity and enforceability. Ensure documentation complies with internal policies, regulatory requirements and risk standards. Work closely with Legal, Credit, Risk, Compliance, Operations and Front Office teams. Manage multiple negotiations in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
Ideal Candidate: 3–6 years of legal documentation negotiation experience on the sell side or buy side. Strong experience with complex derivatives and collateral documentation. Working knowledge of U.S. margin rules, particularly requirements applicable to uncleared swaps. Understanding of derivatives products, margin mechanics and market conventions. Familiarity with Dodd-Frank, swap dealer regulations and industry-standard documentation protocols. Strong negotiation, analytical, communication and organizational skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment while managing multiple priorities. JD is not required.
