Supervising Solid Waste Engineer / Project Manager

Base Salary: $180,000–$200,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus eligibility
The Opportunity: Take the lead on complex solid waste and environmental remediation projects with an employee-owned engineering and water resources consulting firm that serves public and private clients nationwide. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work alongside the Engineering Technical Director to grow the firm's solid waste practice across Southern California. You will combine technical leadership, client relationship building, and business development.
What You'll Do: Lead Projects Manage solid waste and remediation projects from start to finish, meeting technical, quality, budget, and schedule goals Oversee design and specification packages for soil vapor extraction, landfill gas collection and control, landfill geosynthetic capping, and vapor intrusion mitigation systems Lead deliverables and review data through design, construction, and operation and maintenance phases Coordinate with clients, regulators, stakeholders, and subconsultants Mentor and Advance the Practice Guide project teams and promote technical excellence Stay current on industry standards, markets, and competitors Present technical papers or serve on technical committees in professional associations Grow the Business Build long-term client relationships and pursue new opportunities Support proposals, client interviews, and contract negotiations Reach $400,000 in new revenue in year 1 ($200,000 from new clients, $200,000 from existing clients), growing to $750,000–$1,000,000 within 3 years Support Operations Uphold safety standards and help meet billing and collection goals for Southern California Champion company culture and vision
What You Bring: Education and Licensure Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred) California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire Experience and Skills 12+ years of remediation and/or solid waste engineering experience in California Proven business development success and long-term client relationships Ability to review and edit technical reports to meet scope, quality, and client expectations Critical review of design drawings and specifications, with real-time input on workplans, design deliverables, construction submittals, and contractor RFIs Senior oversight of construction quality assurance teams Skills in quality control, planning, cost estimating, and scheduling Strong written and verbal communication Ability to assign work, manage teams, and mentor others OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred, not required Personal Qualities Strong management skills, work ethic, and attention to detail Able to multitask, stay organized, and work independently and collaboratively Commitment to personal and professional growth Current valid driver's license Work Environment and Travel Environment Fast-paced setting with a high workload and frequent short deadlines Ability to obtain medical clearance for hazardous waste sites
Physical Requirements: Lift up to 25 lbs Sit or stand for extended periods Travel Occasional travel, including overnight, for client meetings and site visits (up to 20%)
