About the role
- Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals
- Own the monthly and quarterly close
- Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and quarterly reporting deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Oversee monthly close activities and financial statement preparation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Coordinate and support SOX compliance activities
- Serve as a key contact for internal and external audit requests
- Review and improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation
- Partner with internal finance, accounting, operations, and leadership teams
- Support accounting policy updates and the implementation of new accounting standards
- Drive process improvement, standardization, automation, and better use of technology
- Support ongoing integration work tied to a recent acquisition
- Manage special projects and help improve the scalability of the accounting function
- Provide coaching, feedback, training, and career development for team members
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldCPA, CFA, CMA, MAcc / MSA, MBA, or other advanced certification strongly preferred
- Ideally 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior team leadership or people management with 1+ years experience preferred
- Public accounting and/or large corporate accounting experience preferred
- Strong GAAP knowledge
- Month-end close, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting operations experience
- Experience with SOX compliance and supporting internal and external audit
- Strong Excel and systems aptitude
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills
- A continuous improvement mindset
