Vice President, Algo Trading / Smart Order Router Developer New York City | 3–4 days per week onsite$250K base | $350K–$400K total compensation81 North is partnering with a leading digital-assets firm seeking a senior, hands-on engineer to help build its next-generation algorithmic trading and smart-order-routing platform. This is a greenfield development opportunity for someone who has personally built execution algorithms, routing logic or low-latency electronic-trading systems. You will work closely with traders and product stakeholders while remaining deeply involved in the architecture and code. What you’ll work on: Low-latency, high-throughput EMS and Smart Order Router development Intelligent routing based on liquidity, execution quality, latency and cost Order-management and execution workflows Exchange and venue connectivity Real-time market-data processing System performance, resiliency and production support
What we’re looking for:
  • 8+ years of electronic or algorithmic trading technology experience
  • Strong hands-on Java development
  • Direct SOR, execution-algorithm, OMS or EMS experience
  • Low-latency systems, concurrency, networking and memory managementFIX, market gateways and real-time market-data feeds
  • Linux and performance-profiling experience
  • Experience partnering directly with traders and business stakeholders
Experience with institutional crypto, FX, market making, internalization or crossing networks is especially valuable. This is not a general blockchain-engineering position. The core requirement is hands-on ownership of institutional execution, routing or electronic-trading technology.
