About the role
- Perform advanced Synergi Electric special studies, including:o 8760‐hour thermal and voltage analyseso N‐1 contingency studieso Fault current and protection‐related studies· Develop, execute, and document scenario‐based planning analyses comparing wires and non‐wires solutions under varying load growth, DER adoption, and contingency conditions.· Interpret modeling results and provide clear, defensible technical recommendations to planners, engineers, and leadership.· Support medium‐ and long‐range distribution planning studies, including capacity, asset performance, and system constraint identification.· Apply advanced MATLAB programming and software development practices to:o Automate Synergi Electric Solver executiono Conduct batch execution of large‐scale studies (e.g., 8760, contingency sets)o Postprocess and visualize results· Support and enhance Synergi Electric Model Management functions, including automation around model setup, versioning, execution, and results tracking.· Support integration between Synergi Electric and PSCAD, including model preparation, execution support, and data exchange for electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies.· Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to align assumptions, modeling inputs, and methodologies.· Develop and maintain standardized and automated workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and auditability of special studies.· Produce decision‐ready reports, visualizations, and technical documentation.· Support task and project execution using enterprise tools (e.g., Jira).· Promote best practices in distribution modeling, automation, and model governance across the organization. Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications: Strong foundational understanding of distribution system planning, analysis, and operation Hands‐on experience with Synergi Electric distribution system modeling, Synergi Electric Solver workflows, including special studies. Demonstrated experience performing:o 8760‐hour simulationso Time series processingo Fault current and protection‐related studies Required skills in MATLAB programming and Simulink simulations, including:o Automating Synergi Electric Solver executiono Batch processing of large study setso Postprocessing and visualization of modeling results Develop maintainable, tested, and version-controlled MATLAB code for Synergi Electric automation, large-scale batch studies, postprocessing, visualization, and reusable analysis workflows. Integration of agentic and AI-based workflows in MATLABExperience with Synergi Electric-PSCAD workflows and support of EMT‐related studies is required or strongly preferred. Familiarity with Synergi Model Management capabilities and automation of model lifecycle functions. Knowledge of electric distribution system planning, including load growth, DER integration, voltage performance, and system constraints. Ability to work with large and complex datasets and perform critical analysis of results. Experience with SQL databases or structured enterprise data sources is a plus. Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
