Assistant Controller - Construction

What You'll Do as the Assistant Controller:Lead, supervise, and develop a diverse accounting team setting clear expectations and building accountabilityLead day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, reconciliations, general ledger activities, and financial reportingManage monthly close activities and support accurate, timely reporting for company leadershipMaintain and improve job costing processes, project reporting, and financial controlsPrepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for management, including narrative insights and variance explanations.Track retainage, change orders, contract balances, and project financial performancePartner with project teams to ensure accurate cost coding and reportingCoordinate with external accounting partners and advisors as neededIdentify process improvements, automation opportunities, and efficiencies across accounting operationsSupport budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and growth initiativesHelp strengthen accounting systems and reporting capabilities as the organization continues to scaleMust-Haves as the Accounting Manager:4+ years of accounting experience within the construction industryStrong understanding of job costing, month-end close, reconciliationsExperience working within construction ERP systems such as NetSuiteExperience supporting payroll and payroll-related accounting processesStrong Excel and reporting skillsAbility to work independently and take ownership of accounting functionsProven ability to identify issues, improve processes, and drive resultsStrong communication skills and professionalism
