Job Description: OB/ GYN Hospitalist Opportunities – Birmingham, ALThe Marnix E. Heersink University of Alabama at Birmingham ( UAB ) School of Medicine, a premier center for clinical care, medical education, and research, invites applications for the position offull-time OB/ GYN Hospitalist. UAB’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/ GYN ) is recognized for excellence as reflected in its high-level of NIH funding, consistent US News & World Report Top 20 status, and consistent recognition as a top 15 residency program. The department contains seven divisions, > 60 faculty members, six fellowships, and 32 resident physicians. These attributes make the UAB Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology one of the best programs of its specialty in the country. These hospitalist positions will join current faculty members within the department to collaboratively provide care for our obstetrical and gynecologic patients at the UAB Women and Infant’s Center. This state-of-the-art center houses the Southeast’s largest Level 4 NICU, a 17-bed L&D unit, 4 dedicated obstetric operating rooms with PACU beds, and an attached 12-bed Maternity Evaluation Unit ( MEU ). In this facility, our team delivers ~4500 deliveries/year, manages approximately 10,000 MEU visits, and provides 24/7 comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care. Responsibilities: Supervision of the obstetric team, composed of resident physicians, CNMs, medical students, and other learners, and hands‑on clinical care in: Labor and delivery Maternity evaluation unit (triage) Consultative gynecology care Full spectrum OBGYN hospitalist duties Education of resident physicians and medical students Support of the department’s educational and research mission Candidates Qualified candidates are those who hold a medical degree or equivalent; are board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology; have acknowledged excellence in the field; are eligible for licensure in the state of Alabama and for a faculty appointment at the Marnix E. Heersink University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.
Required Qualifications: The successful applicant will hold a M.D. or D.O., in Obstetrics and Gynecology; Osteopathic Medicine; Women’s Health and/or Women’s Education; Nursing; Public Health; or a closely comparable field.
