About the role
- Own technical success of multiple automotive customer programs
- Design, carry out, and analyze experiments to test the performance of cells made using Sila’s materials against automotive customer requirements
- Effectively communicate ideas, plans, and results externally to customers and internally across diverse Sila teams
- Facilitate technical collaboration between groups at Sila and with external customers
- Invest in our company values and vision and champion them as we grow
- Ability to carefully plan and implement multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong technical background, experience with lithium-ion batteries is a plus
- Exceptional communication abilities with both internal groups and external customers, direct experience in a customer facing role is a plus
- Well-organized and data-driven approach to problem solving and experimental design, driven by curiosity and attention to detail
- Understanding of lab safety best practices
- Experience taking products out of the lab and into the market is a plus
- At least a B.S. in engineering or science and 5+ years of experience (fewer for candidates with an advanced degree)
- Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis
- Up to 20% domestic and international travel as needed
