About us:
Milestone Industrial Steel is a structural steel fabricator on 12 acres in Glendale. We handle procurement, in-house fabrication, and field erection for commercial, industrial, and custom residential projects across Arizona. We're growing, and we want people looking for a career, not just a job.
The role:
You'll be the operator moving our heaviest material: long beams, columns, plate, and pipe coming off supplier trucks and finished steel going out to job sites. You'll run a 36,000 lb capacity forklift and a 10,000 lb combi (multi-directional) sideloader, and you'll do it safely, precisely, and without damaging material.
What you'll do:
Unload incoming steel from flatbeds and stage it in the yard by job, size, and grade Load outgoing trucks by job and sequence, balancing weight and protecting finished and painted pieces Run the 36k forklift for heavy beams, columns, and bundled material Run the 10k combi lift for long members, pipe, and tube in tight aisles and racks Feed material to saws, beam lines, and fab bays as the shop needs it Work with the shipping coordinator to check piece marks against shipping lists Help drivers with dunnage, blocking, and load securement Do daily pre-shift inspections and report maintenance issues right away Keep the yard organized, aisles clear, and remnants tagged and stored What we're looking for 2+ years of forklift experience; heavy-capacity (15k+) and steel, lumber, or pipe yard experience strongly preferred Combi, sideloader, or multi-directional forklift experience is a big plus Understanding of load centers, capacity charts, and handling long or unbalanced loads Able to read piece marks, tags, and basic material lists Current OSHA forklift certification, or able to pass our evaluation and certification Strong safety habits and awareness of ground crews, trucks, and overhead cranes Able to work outdoors in Arizona heat and lift 50 lbs Valid driver's license; reliable transportation Nice to have Overhead crane, rigging, or signal person experience Knowledge of flatbed securement and DOT load rules Familiarity with AISC shapes (W, HSS, C, L, pipe) Bilingual English/Spanis h \nCompany Description We are a Structural and Miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection company.
