About the role

Member Service Advocate/Collections Credit Union seeking a Member Service Advocate/Collections on a long-term, temporary basis to support reducing the account delinquencies.
Job Duties:
  • Contact members regarding delinquent accounts by phone and mail, taking appropriate action to bring accounts current
  • Focus on inbound/outbound collection efforts with minimal administrative duties
  • Assist members in understanding available repayment options and providing clear explanation of terms
  • Offer guidance on next steps when members express financial hardship
  • Handle escalated delinquency stage accounts and take appropriate de-escalation techniques during challenging conversations
  • Negotiate account resolutions, approve higher payment arrangements and more flexible terms
  • Support other team members on how to handle escalated conversations
  • Analyze financial situations of delinquent borrowers and make recommendations
  • Maintain accurate files and reports of all collections activity
  • Inform management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans
  • Timely completes all required compliance/operations training
  • Ensures more detailed and comprehensive documentation on higher-risk accounts
Required Skills:
  • 1-3 years of experience in loan collections, financial services
  • Strong customer service
  • Comfortable handling sensitive/confidential conversations with care and discretion
  • Remain patient and empathetic when members are stressed or frustrated
  • HoursMonday to Friday/ 8:30 am to 5:30 pmSalary$17.50/hour to $21.50/hour
