We are seeking a Sr. Optical Engineer to support our client's team. The hourly rate for this position is expected to be between $56.97 – $71.20 per hour, depending on geographic location, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Employment Type: Temporary, approximately 3 months (through December 2026).
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Job Summary: Lead optical engineering efforts for a second prototype build of ophthalmic medical devicesProvide technical guidance to the Optical Technician and broader engineering teamContribute to component selection and system design for diagnostic/therapeutic devicesDevelop work instructions, testing procedures, and validation protocolsDesign production tooling and test fixtures for performance and reliabilityCollaborate cross-functionally with hardware, software, mechanical, and applied research teamsSupport transition of products from prototype through manufacturing handoffRequirements: Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related STEM fieldMinimum 5 years of experience in optical engineering or photonicsStrong optical design, analysis, and testing experienceExperience supporting product development from prototype through manufacturingMechanical design experience (CAD, SolidWorks) a plusFamiliarity with optical design tools (e.g., Zemax) preferredExperience in regulated environments (FDA QSR, ISO 13485) strongly preferredStrong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skillsSelf-starter capable of working autonomously in a lab environment
