Key Responsibilities: Partner with high-net-worth individuals, families, business owners, and their advisors to identify opportunities that improve tax efficiency and support long-term financial and wealth-planning objectives. Review complex tax and financial situations involving individuals, trusts, estates, closely held businesses, investments, and other sophisticated ownership structures. Develop and evaluate forward-looking tax and wealth-planning strategies that align with clients' personal, business, investment, estate, and legacy goals. Analyze the financial and tax impact of planning decisions and help clients understand potential outcomes, tradeoffs, and risks. Provide strategic guidance surrounding significant life and business events, including business sales, ownership transitions, liquidity events, succession planning, and wealth transfers. Evaluate planning opportunities related to estate and gift tax, charitable giving, executive compensation, investments, real estate holdings, business ownership, and intergenerational wealth transfer. Review tax returns, financial information, ownership structures, and planning projections to identify tax-saving opportunities and potential planning concerns. Research tax legislation, regulations, emerging planning concepts, and technical issues to uncover opportunities and support sound client recommendations. Stay current on federal and state tax developments and communicate relevant implications to clients and internal stakeholders. Coordinate with attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, investment professionals, and other trusted advisors to develop and implement comprehensive wealth and tax planning strategies. Translate complex tax and wealth-planning concepts into clear, actionable guidance for clients, families, and professional advisors. Prepare and present tax planning analyses, projections, recommendations, and supporting materials for client meetings and strategy discussions. Contribute to the development of internal tax and wealth-planning resources, frameworks, and educational content that enhance the client experience. Maintain thorough documentation of recommendations, planning assumptions, client objectives, and ongoing action items while ensuring strategies are technically sound and aligned with client goals.
Desired Qualifications: Experience advising high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational families, business owners, and executives on sophisticated tax and wealth-planning matters. Strong technical knowledge across individual, trust, estate, gift, and business taxation, including complex ownership structures and planning scenarios. Demonstrated ability to evaluate tax and wealth-planning opportunities through both a technical and practical lens, balancing tax benefits with real-world client and business objectives. Comfort analyzing tax returns, financial statements, investment information, ownership structures, and planning projections to identify opportunities and potential concerns. Excellent research, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a natural curiosity for complex tax and wealth-planning issues. Ability to communicate nuanced tax and financial concepts in a straightforward, client-friendly manner. Confident in asking thoughtful questions, challenging assumptions, and identifying planning risks before they become issues. Collaborative approach when working alongside attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, investment professionals, and other professionals involved in a client's planning process. Strong professional judgment coupled with a commitment to accuracy, discretion, confidentiality, and exceptional client service. Self-motivated and proactive, with a desire to stay current on evolving tax laws, wealth-planning strategies, and industry developments. Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline required. CPA designation strongly preferred; advanced tax credentials such as a JD or LL.M. in Taxation are also valued.5+ years of experience in tax planning, tax advisory, private client services, wealth planning, or a related field. Background working with high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational families, trusts, estates, closely held businesses, and complex wealth-planning situations is highly desirable. Experience supporting clients through business sales, succession planning, recapitalizations, liquidity events, estate planning, or other significant wealth-transfer events is a plus. Prior tax compliance experience is beneficial; however, this position is focused primarily on advisory work, planning, strategy, and client consultation rather than high-volume return preparation.
