⚙️ Principal Forensic Mechanical Engineer | US | $180K+I’m working with a well-established and growing multidisciplinary forensic consulting firm that is looking to bring a Principal Forensic Mechanical Engineer into the business. This is a genuine leadership opportunity for an experienced forensic mechanical engineer who wants to take ownership of complex investigations, lead a team of engineers and become a key technical voice within a growing national practice. You’ll be supporting clients across the US, working on complex mechanical failures, defects and damage across commercial, industrial and residential properties.
The Role: As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be the senior technical resource for forensic mechanical investigations, taking the lead on complex cases from initial investigation through to expert opinion and, where required, expert testimony. Alongside the technical work, you’ll lead and mentor a team of forensic engineers, work directly with clients and help shape the continued growth of the practice.
What you'll be doing:
  • Leading complex forensic investigations into mechanical failures, defects and damage
  • Determining cause and origin through detailed technical analysis
  • Assessing construction quality, design, installation and maintenance
  • Developing recommendations for repair, replacement and remediation
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams on large and complex projects
  • Reviewing and signing off technical reports and expert opinions
  • Acting as the primary client contact on forensic mechanical matters
  • Developing relationships with clients, attorneys and other consultants
  • Providing expert witness testimony in legal and regulatory proceedings
  • Mentoring and developing the next generation of forensic engineers They’re looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8-10+ years of experience investigating mechanical system and component failures
  • Active PE license required
  • Multi-state licensure strongly preferred
  • Previous leadership or project management experience
  • Expert witness experience is highly desirable
  • Strong technical writing, communication and client management skills
  • Someone who enjoys developing people and taking ownership of complex work
