As a new Equipment Maintenance Technician at Barrett Petfood, you can expect a dynamic day filled with engaging activities focused on maintaining and troubleshooting our machinery. Each day will involve conducting regular inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and addressing any equipment issues to ensure smooth operations. You'll collaborate closely with other team members, reporting on maintenance tasks and participating in innovative problem-solving discussions. It's essential to stay customer-centric, as your work directly impacts production efficiency and product quality. AVAILABLE SHIFTS1ST SHIFT Monday through Friday from 6AM to 2:30PM2ND SHIFT Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM (+$1.50/HR SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on equipment such as conveyors, grinders, mixers, mills, elevators, and packaging systems Daily checks of motors, bearings, chains and belts on conveyors Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues and perform timely repairs Maintain facility systems including boilers, compressors, HVAC, and utilities as required Assist with installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production issues Work closely with production teams to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend corrective actions Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirementsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the manufacturing facility. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, and perform other physical activities required in a manufacturing environment. Climb and descend stairs and ladders safely and routinely, including accessing elevated work areas and equipment. Ability to safely operate or work from a scissor lift to access elevated equipment and production areas for inspection, verification, and environmental or sanitation sampling Maintain balance and stability while working on elevated platforms, stairs, ladders, and uneven or wet surfaces, as applicable. Work in varying environmental conditions, including areas that may be hot, cold, wet, humid, noisy, or subject to temperature fluctuations.
