About the role

Description: Weyerhaeuser is seeking a motivated research intern to join a forest genetics and tree improvement research program focused on plant growth, physiology, and adaptation to environmental stress. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting large-scale greenhouse experiments and learning advanced techniques used in plant science and natural resources research. The successful candidate will work alongside scientists and technical staff to collect plant measurements, assist with experimental operations, manage research data, and support laboratory and greenhouse activities. This internship will last approximately 12 to 16 weeks between mid/late June and mid/late September of 2027. A typical work week will be at least 40 hours/week.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in forestry, biology, ecology, environmental science, natural resources, agriculture, or a related field. Ability to work safely. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with Excel, data management, or statistical software. Willingness to work in greenhouse and laboratory environments. Ability to work a flexible schedule and occasional early-morning research activities during intensive physiological measurement periods. Ability to lift and move plant materials and research equipment. Eligibility to work in the United States without Sponsorship. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Compensation: The internship will be paid at an hourly rate of $22.00 to $25.00/hour (with overtime paid at time-and-a-half) and will include an allowance for the purchase of boots and other required safety gear. A one-time relocation stipend and monthly housing stipend may also be included, depending on distance from the candidate’s current residence to the workstation. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Weyerhaeuser 401(k) plan but will not be eligible for medical/dental or other benefits. This position is designated by WY as a safety-sensitive position. Please be advised that due to the designation of this position as safety-sensitive, you will be subject to pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites.
