Following a recent Series B funding round, the company is investing heavily in growth and scaling its accounting and finance capabilities. Position Overview: The Insurance Accounting Manager/Senior Manager will serve as a foundational member of the accounting organization, partnering directly with client finance teams while helping to build and scale accounting operations. This role requires a strong background in insurance accounting and will play a critical role in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, month-end close processes, and process improvement initiatives. You need to be proactive, a solutions-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building scalable processes, and is energized by technology and automation.
Key Responsibilities: Manage accounting operations for insurance-related entities and client accounts. Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare and review statutory and regulatory accounting reports. Support insurance regulatory filings and compliance requirements. Partner directly with clients to provide accounting guidance, reporting insights, and financial support. Collaborate with operations, product, and technology teams to improve accounting workflows and processes. Drive process automation initiatives and help leverage technology to improve efficiency and scalability. Assist with audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance-related activities. Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Contribute to the design and growth of the future accounting organization.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with strong accounting working knowledge.7 to 12 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong insurance accounting experience is required. Expertise in: Statutory Accounting (STAT)Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)Insurance operations accounting Claims accounting Insurance regulatory reportingNAIC reporting Experience leading month-end and quarter-end close processes. Strong client-facing communication and relationship management skills. Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability to improve financial systems, controls, and processes. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with captive insurance accounting strongly preferred. Candidates coming from public accounting, audit, or assurance with exposure to captive insurance will also be considered. Experience implementing automation tools and technology-enabled accounting processes. Prior experience in a high-growth, startup, or entrepreneurial environment.
