Successful outcomes start and finish with eNGINE.eNGINE is hiring a Database Engineer to design, build, and secure Oracle database environments in Azure. This role will configure the platform, own identity and access design, and make sure every database is resilient, auditable, and ready for regulatory scrutiny.
What You'll Do: Identity, Access, and Provisioning: Provision, configure, and maintain Oracle 19c and 23ai database servers in Azure Define and assign administrative roles, enforcing least-privilege access through role assignments and security groups Use Oracle Database Vault to control privileges for system DBAs and application support staff Support database activity monitoring (Guardium experience is a plus)Backup, Recovery, and Resiliency: Build and maintain baseline configurations for Oracle servers covering encryption at rest, auditing, threat detection, backup/restore, retention, and access parameters Configure and tune Active Data Guard for minimal replication lag without sacrificing performance Implement Oracle Golden Gate for active/active schema- or table-level replication to improve application resiliency Perform restores in lower environments using RMAN or logical export/import Maintenance and Recordkeeping: Plan, execute, and document patching, upgrades, diagnostics, and repairs, including remote maintenance records Apply secure media handling and sanitization practices to backups, exports, and logs Monitoring and Audit Readiness: Configure Azure-native monitoring and logging for database identity, access, and operational events Tune alerting for service owners and security teams, and support audits of access and operational controls
Required Skills: Hands-on Oracle database engineering (19c and/or 23ai) in Azure, in a highly regulated environment Managed identities for applications, with a focus on replacing local keys with centralized identity Configuration baselines, resource tagging, and asset/data inventories in Azure Azure monitoring and logging for database events, integrated with approval and incident workflows Proven experience designing and running secure Oracle environments at scale Experience governing elevated and emergency access, incident handling, and post-event reviews Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering, security, and operations teamsA practical approach to external service oversight and maintenance records that support audit readiness
Preferred Experience: Government or financial services background (highest priority), or healthcare Oracle Database Vault and Guardium Integrating identity/access workflows with enterprise approval and ticketing systems Data classification/discovery toolsCI/CD guardrails for secrets management and application-to-database identity patterns No C2C, relocation, referral, or sponsorship candidates for this role.
