Location: Waterloo, IA
Job Type: Full-time
Pay:
$80,000 to $100,000 per year, plus 10% bonus
Design mechanical products from customer need to finished product, leading engineering projects alongside a team of up to 10 design engineers.
Must-Haves
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience
Strong knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and materials
Proficiency in design software and Excel
Functional understanding of cost accounting
Commitment to Lean principles and practices
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
What You'll Do:
Plan and lead mechanical design projects based on customer requirements, market demand, and competitive products
Schedule and assign work to design engineers and follow up on results
Design research, feasibility, and testing methods to confirm product capabilities
Develop products by researching manufacturing methods, assembly methods, and materials
Improve manufacturing processes with a focus on cost reduction
Design and modify equipment for fabrication, assembly, and installation
Test finished products and systems to assure quality
Prepare product reports and maintain the product database
Ensure compliance with government regulations
