About the role
Job Title: Industry Postdoctoral Scientist - Advanced Ceramics & Electromagnetic Materials
Company: MN8 Bioceramics
Reports To: Chief Science Officer
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Indianapolis
Start Date:
Immediate /As Soon as Possible Application Review: Applications received by October 8 will receive full consideration. Applications will be reviewed immediately, and the position will remain open until filled.
Position Overview:
MN8 Bioceramics is seeking an Industry Postdoctoral Scientist for an immediate opening with hands-on expertise in the design, synthesis, processing, and characterization of advanced ceramics. The position will focus on connecting composition, atomic structure, defects, and microstructure with electromagnetic response and functional performance, from materials design and synthesis to characterization, validation, and scalable manufacturing.
Core Responsibilities:
Design, synthesize, and process oxide and non-oxide ceramics.- Control composition, doping, defects, interfaces, phases, and microstructure to tune material properties and performance.- Develop and optimize solid-state and solution-based synthesis, thermal processing, sintering, and densification methods, with emphasis on reproducibility and scalable manufacturing.- Perform and interpret materials characterization to establish composition–structure–microstructure–property relationships.- Investigate electromagnetic response, including dielectric and magnetic behavior, absorption, reflection, transmission, and shielding across relevant frequency ranges.- Work with internal and external partners to translate promising materials from laboratory development toward scalable manufacturing and commercial applications.
Required Qualifications:
• Ph. D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.• Strong hands-on experience in the design, synthesis, processing, and characterization of oxide and/or non-oxide ceramics.• Experience controlling composition, defects, phases, and microstructure to tune material properties.• Experience with relevant characterization techniques, such as XRD, SEM/EDS, Raman, FTIR, XPS, and thermal analysis.• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with electromagnetic properties and measurements, including dielectric/magnetic response, absorption, reflection, transmission, or EMI shielding, is highly desirable.• Experience with ceramic scale-up, manufacturing, computational materials design, or electromagnetic simulation is a plus.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
