Guided by our core values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (CARE), we strive to create a family-oriented environment where every child has hope for a brighter future JOB SUMMARYHouseparents care for children in a residential setting and use a professional, team-oriented, trauma-informed approach to provide a safe, healing, home-like environment. Houseparents manage homes of 10 or more children and nurture each child educationally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The ideal person(s) should be mature, responsible, ministry-minded, and mission-driven. WORK SCHEDULEThis is a live-in residential ministry position with a two-weeks-on, one-week-off rotation. During the two weeks on duty, houseparents live in the assigned home and provide care, supervision, and support to residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 14 consecutive days. Following each two-week rotation, houseparents receive one full week off. Because of the nature of residential ministry, houseparents must be flexible, dependable, and committed to providing a stable, Christ-centered home environment for the children in their care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision/care of children in the assigned home. Ensure each child's basic physical needs are met: adequate nutrition, a clean home environment, appropriate clothing, proper physical exercise, and doctor visits as needed. Work with the caseworkers and educational staff to ensure that each child is achieving their educational goals. Provide accurate and insightful feedback to the caseworker and the therapist working with each child. Assist in the implementation of care plans for children. Actively participate in scheduled case reviews. Mentor children involved in the work program and help them develop into reliable workers with good independent living skills. In cooperation with other caregivers and facilities staff, help maintain the campus living environment. Active participation in campus chapel services and modeling Christian values at all times. Clear understanding and implementation of all policies. Maintain a behavior management plan for the home. Prepare meals and snacks for residents per the TCM weekly menu. Administer and record all medication given to residents; notify the office of needed medication refills. Distribute and process all mail for children in the assigned home in a timely manner. Transport children to appointments and events as needed. Keep proper and timely documentation of each child- i.e. case noting, behavior logs, etc. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Must affirm and sign our Statement of Faith Model Christian character and values in daily life, participate in campus chapel services and ministry activities as expected, and maintain active membership and involvement with Restoration Chapel. Married couples are preferred; however, qualified single applicants may also be considered. Applicants must be willing and able to live and serve in a close-knit residential ministry community. Able and willing to work in homes of either gender and any age group (0-18) An ability to understand and implement care plans. Must legally be able to work in the United States and pass a criminal background check. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. Must be physically able to meet the basic needs of children under care. English language proficiency is required. Must demonstrate flexibility and understanding due to unforeseen circumstances and multiple roles required in daily activity. Experience working with disadvantaged and/or special needs youth is a plus. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with Google Suite is a plus. Ability to work well with others. Be available, dependable, punctual, and reliable. Have tact, integrity, and diplomacy. Critical thinking and decision-making skills. Ability to maintain the strictest of confidentiality.
