Overview: The Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in La Jolla, California, invites applications for Institution-wide Post-Graduate positions in major research areas at Scripps. Scripps conducts physical, chemical, biological, geological, and geophysical studies of the oceans, earth, and atmosphere. Postdoctoral scholars are expected to interact with existing programs and candidates are required to contact potential mentors and identify mutual research interests prior to submitting applications. Research activities at SIO can be explored by viewing profiles of the Principal Investigators at Scripps.
Responsibilities: Interact with existing programs and contact potential mentors to identify mutual research interests prior to submitting applications. Contribute to independent, creative research with potential for future independent work.
Qualifications: PhD degree completed prior to taking up the appointment and received no earlier than January 1, 2007. Current and former Scripps Postdocs are not eligible for these awards. Details Appointments are for one year, with renewal for a second year by mutual agreement. Salary based on the University of California pay scale, plus benefits; minimum stipend for 2010 awards is $45,000 per year. Deadline for applications: March 1, 2010; successful candidates are expected to start before December 1, 2010.
