About the role
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients, providers, and external partners
- Process and track Release of Information (ROI) requests while ensuring HIPAA compliance
- Handle incoming calls, mail, faxes, and electronic in-basket messages
- Scan, index, quality check, and maintain electronic medical records
- Manage paper records, including retrieval, storage, retention, and destruction
- Ensure the accuracy, security, and accessibility of medical records
- Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to resolve record-related issues
- Support additional Health Information Management (HIM) functions as needed
- High school Diploma 1+ years of experience in Health Information Management, Customer Service relates industry or other Healthcare setting
- AttributesAssociate's degree in Health Information Management, Business, IT, or related field (preferred)
- Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or other EMR systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management software
- Knowledge of HIPAA and state/federal health information regulations
- Strong computer, customer service, and communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently
