About the role

Director of Product Design – Home Textiles
Location: New York, NY 10120 Type: Full time, in person Compensation: starting at $150k based on experience Benefits: 401(k) program, health benefits, paid time off
Job Description: Every season, we tell a new story. We need the person who writes it. Dream Home NY is a New York home goods wholesaler bringing licensed and in house brands to TJX, Home Goods, Burlington, Bealls and other off price retailers. We have a growing portfolio across throws and pillows, pet beds and accessories, kitchen textiles, and melamine and tableware. We are looking for a Director of Product Design to lead the creative vision across all of it. This is not a role for someone who wants to adapt last year's line. It's for the designer who walks into a new season asking "what hasn't been done yet?"
WHAT YOU'LL DO: Own the seasonal concept for every brand we carry, building a cohesive story for each licensed and in house brand that carries across all categories, so a pillow, a pet bed and a dinner plate feel like chapters of the same book Translate each licensor's brand DNA into fresh, commercially sharp collections that earn approval and excite buyers Develop original patterns, prints, colorways and motifs that push beyond the expected while staying right for our retail channels Lead trend research and concept development, turning inspiration into mood boards, color stories and full seasonal direction Drive the creative calendar for our two markets each year: Q1/Q2 product in September and Q3/Q4 product in March Partner with licensing, sourcing, sales and product development to keep concepts on brand, on cost and on schedule Present seasonal direction to leadership, brand management and licensors Mentor and grow the design team, setting a high creative barWHO YOU ARE8+ years of product or surface design experience in home goods, textiles, tabletop or a related category, with at least 3 years in a leadership role Experienced designing for licensed brands and comfortable working within brand guidelines while still finding room to innovateA strong pattern and print designer with an eye for color, scale and what sells at retail Fluent in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with experience managing CADs, strike offs and sample approvals with overseas factories Knowledgeable about the off price and mass retail landscape and how design decisions affect cost and margin Organized enough to manage multiple brands and deadlines at once without losing the creative sparkWHY JOIN USCreative ownership across a portfolio of recognizable brandsA close knit team of about 40 where your work is seen and your ideas move fast Your designs on shelves at some of the country's biggest home retailers every season To apply, please include a portfolio showing seasonal concepts or multi category collections. We want to see how you think, not just what you've made.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
