About the role
OutScout is redesigning how technology companies hire for their most critical roles, built for the autonomous era, but kept human where it matters. We combine a matching platform, dedicated infrastructure, and expert talent partners with high-touch service to help VC-backed startups, PE/growth-stage companies, and enterprise organizations secure niche and senior-level talent with less friction and better information. Our customers work with us on annual and multi-year plans, not one-off placements, which means the partnerships we build are built to last.
The Opportunity:
We're hiring a Business Developer to win new business for OutScout across the US technology sector, focused on critical, niche, and senior-level hiring. This is a chance to help shape how a category-defining company brings a smarter approach to hiring to the market — and to build a book of long-term, multi-year partnerships rather than chase one-off deals. You'll open new target accounts and build credible, lasting relationships with Founders, C-level executives, and Talent/People Ops leaders. You'll also develop relationships with VC and PE firms to bring OutScout's platform to their portfolio companies. We're open to hiring for this as either a high-earning individual contributor role or a path into sales leadership, depending on what you're looking to build.
What You'll Do:
- Prospect and open new accounts across VC-backed, PE/growth-stage, and enterprise technology companies
- Build long-term, credible relationships with Founders, C-suite executives, and Talent/People Ops leaders
- Develop partnerships with VC and PE firms to win business across their portfolios
- Own your pipeline end to end, accurate forecasting, disciplined CRM management, and deal orchestration from first conversation to signed multi-year contract
- Represent OutScout's approach to hiring: technology-led, data-informed, and human where it counts
What You BringYou may come from executive search, contingency recruitment, or from selling strategic talent solutions such as RPO, MSP, embedded talent, SOW, consulting, or staff augmentation. You may already have moved into Talent/HR tech. Wherever you've come from, you understand the dynamics of niche and senior hiring at scale, and you know how to earn the trust of extremely time-poor, senior stakeholders.
You'll also need5–10+ years of high-achieving sales, business development, or customer acquisition experience, ideally having billed $500K–$1M+ per year and comfortable selling six-figure, multi-year deals
Strong CRM and data discipline: you're organized, process-driven, and accurate in your pipeline management and forecasting
Persistence and resilience: our sales cycles range from 1–2 weeks to over a year, averaging 1–3 months, and the biggest wins take time
An entrepreneurial mindset: you want autonomy, but you also want to be part of a small, close-knit team
Eagerness to build something new, different, and respected, rather than run an existing playbook
A genuine interest in technology and where the future of hiring and work is heading, and a desire to help shape itExcellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
LocationFully remote, based anywhere in the US, with willingness to travel.
You must have recent remote work experience; we will not consider candidates without it.
Compensation & Benefits:
- High, uncapped OTE with quarterly and annual bonuses (double base as OTE)
- Significant equity for people who make an impact20+ days PTOFlexible benefits
- A defined path to scale into sales leadership, for those who want it
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
