About the role

The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for the inaugural position of Director of Athletics. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Director will provide visionary leadership to establish and grow a competitive, student-centered intercollegiate athletics program aligned with NAIA membership and the University's mission as an accessible, student-focused, urban public institution. As a founding leader, the Director of Athletics will build the University's athletics department from the ground up--developing its strategic direction, operational infrastructure, and organizational culture. The Director will integrate athletics into the broader campus experience, advancing student engagement, enrollment, retention, and community connection while promoting academic excellence, integrity, and well-being among student-athletes. The Director will serve as a highly visible campus and community leader, building partnerships and strengthening collaborations across the University of Michigan-Flint, the greater Flint community, and regional stakeholders. Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
