About the role

DMC Insurance is seeking an experienced commercial Claims Manager to lead and oversee the handling of commercial claims with a focus on transportation and trucking-related exposures. This role is responsible for managing claim professionals, adherence to claims handling protocols, driving quality and service outcomes, and supporting effective resolution strategies for complex claims. The ideal candidate brings strong technical claims expertise, leadership experience, and a commitment to delivering superior service in a specialized commercial insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities: Lead, coach, and develop a team of commercial claims professionals Oversee the investigation, evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution of commercial claims Ensure compliance with DMC claims handling procedures and best practices Monitor claim quality, cycle, severity trends, and overall team performance Partner with underwriting, risk engineering, finance, and leadership on significant or complex claims Participate in claim review discussions and support escalated claim strategies Drive continuous improvement in claims operations, service delivery, and reporting Support litigation management, vendor oversight, and external partner coordination as needed Maintain a strong customer service orientation while balancing sound coverage and financial outcomes
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred Significant commercial claims handling experience required Prior leadership or management experience within claims strongly preferred Experience with transportation, trucking, casualty, liability, or complex commercial claims preferred Strong knowledge of claims investigation, coverage analysis, reserving, negotiation, and resolution practices Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage workloads, and make sound claim decisions Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with senior leadership
