About the role
- Operate a commercial garbage truck on assigned routes to collect solid waste and recyclables
- Collect materials both mechanically and manually
- Transport waste to designated disposal facilities
- Provide courteous and professional service to customers
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety standards
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs
- Communicate regularly with dispatch, supervisors, and other drivers
- Help with special projects, including community events and cleanups
- Respond quickly and professionally to service issues or customer concerns
- Frequent industrial lifting, including lifting waste to waist level
- Constant walking and steady movement throughout the shift
- Occasional bending, gripping, and physical exertion
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
- Experience operating a Class A or Class B vehicle with air brakes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- Solid Waste industry experience preferred but not required
- Knowledge of DOT rules and safety practices is a plus
- High commitment to working safely and following procedures
- High school diploma or GEDValid Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement
- Clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience
