Visit McKinney's next Executive Director is a destination marketing professional with a sales mindset and a creative edge. This leader knows how a convention and visitors bureau turns marketing into hotel stays, group business, and downtown foot traffic, and has the record to prove it: meetings won, partnerships built, and a community's story told well across every channel.
Just as important is how this person leads. A servant leader who develops a small, talented team and lives the RISE values. With an amphitheater, a surf resort, a JW Marriott, and nonstop air service on the horizon, the ideal candidate sees a once-in-a-career opportunity and is ready to build ahead of it.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field
Four years of progressively responsible experience in the convention, visitors, hospitality, or tourism field
One year of supervisory experience with a proven ability to recruit, train, and develop staff
Valid Class C Texas driver's license, or the ability to obtain one upon hire
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) or Texas Destination Marketer (TDM) designation
Senior leadership within a convention and visitors bureau or destination marketing organization
Experience partnering with a board of directors on strategy, policy, and annual planning
A track record in destination sales, group business, and brand-driven marketing campaigns
Experience managing hotel occupancy tax budgets and public sector reporting
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
