We are honored to be recruiting for an established, high-integrity Chicagoland residential design-build firm seeking an experienced Architectural Manager to help lead its internal Architecture Department. In this role, you will work directly with the Director of Architecture, serving as a key leader within a busy, collaborative Architecture Department supporting residential remodeling projects throughout Chicagoland. This is not a traditional production architect role, and there are no sales or business development responsibilities. We are seeking a talented architect who brings strong technical knowledge, enjoys mentoring and managing others, and is ready for an opportunity with meaningful leadership responsibility and long-term career growth. Job Responsibilities:
As Architectural Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations, people and workflow of the Architecture Department.
Lead, support and mentor a team of architectural design professionals within a highly collaborative company culture.
Manage the daily workflow of a busy department, overseeing quality, assignments, priorities, schedules and deadlines while working in unison with Sales and Construction teams.
Coordinate architectural resources and project delivery across more than 200 residential remodeling projects annually.
Review architectural drawings and construction documents for accuracy, quality and completeness.
Provide architectural and structural review and step into project work when your expertise is needed.
Work closely with the Director of Architecture on technical, structural and big-picture architectural matters, including select project work.
Lead and manage the flow of information and communication among Architecture, Interior Design, Sales, Construction and leadership teams.
Assist with permit information, municipal requirements, building codes and coordination with local building departments.
Help improve department processes, systems and efficiencies while contributing to overall company performance.
Create accountability while motivating, training and developing others within a team-oriented environment.
Help develop and mentor the next generation of talent within the organization.
Requirements:
- Professional background of 12+ years of residential architectural experience, preferably with demonstrated project success in residential remodeling.
- Professional degree in Architecture or related field.
- Architecture license highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of architectural drawings, construction documents and residential construction processes from concept through completion.
- Strong AutoCAD skills, including the ability to review, correct and approve architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong computer and software skills, including Microsoft 365, OneDrive and CRM platforms.
- Experience managing or mentoring architects, designers or other professional team members.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, permitting and municipal approval processes.
