Job Description: Electronics Assembly Technician
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Electronics Assembly Technician to perform hands-on assembly, rework, repair, and integration of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies. The ideal candidate will have experience with PCB assembly, soldering, cable and harness assembly, chassis integration, and reading wiring diagrams or schematics. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow detailed work instructions, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities: Assemble, disassemble, rework, and repair electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies. Perform PCB/circuit card assembly, including installation of through-hole and surface-mount components. Perform soldering, desoldering, component replacement, modifications, and solder touch-up. Build and assemble cables and wire harnesses, including wire preparation, crimping, soldering, and point-to-point wiring. Assemble electronic cabinets, chassis, consoles, racks, and related hardware. Integrate electrical, electronic, and mechanical components into finished assemblies. Perform mechanical assembly processes such as bonding, potting, encapsulation, sanding, cleaning, curing, stamping, etching, and color coding. Follow schematics, wiring diagrams, process routings, drawings, and detailed written/verbal work instructions. Operate equipment used for soldering, desoldering, pressing, shaping, winding, and component placement. Perform in-process inspections and self-checks to ensure assemblies meet quality requirements. Prepare completed assemblies for formal inspection, testing, and final integration. Assist with conformal coating, potting, encapsulation, and other intermediate manufacturing processes as needed. Maintain accurate production and quality records, including basic SPC/data collection. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all applicable safety procedures.
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.2+ years of experience in electronic assembly, rework, repair, or related manufacturing. Hands-on experience with soldering and electronic assembly. Experience with cable, wire, or harness assembly. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, process routings, and assembly instructions. Knowledge of electronic components and proper component handling. Basic computer skills and ability to document production information. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while following established procedures.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with both through-hole and surface-mount (SMT) soldering. Familiarity with IPC standards such as IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711, and J-STD-001.Experience with PCB rework and component replacement. Experience with conformal coating, potting, encapsulation, or similar processes. Previous experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments. Current or previous soldering certifications.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Good vision and color recognition are required. Ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, and work in various positions for extended periods. Ability to work with visual aids such as magnification lenses or microscopes when required. May work with solvents, flux, thinners, and other cleaning compounds while using appropriate PPE and safety procedures. Must be able to obtain and maintain required soldering certifications. Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance may be required.\nCompany
