About the role

WH Smith is searching for a manager to lead their partnership with Starbucks at the Dulles Airport. The Starbucks, Store Manager, leads daily store operations to deliver exceptional customer experiences while driving sales, profitability, and operational excellence. They build and develop high-performing teams through coaching, uphold Starbucks' brand and quality standards, and foster an inclusive, customer-focused culture. The position requires previous Starbucks experience and is contingent upon acquiring your Starbucks certification. Exceptional Customer Experience Create a welcoming environment through strong customer connection, beverage quality, speed, accuracy, and care. Lead partners in delivering personalized, efficient service aligned with Starbucks standards. Coach partners to anticipate needs, recommend products, resolve concerns, and create positive experiences. Foster an inclusive, customer-focused culture that drives engagement and loyalty. Maintain knowledge of Starbucks products, promotions, and service routines. Build strong relationships with customers, property partners, and stakeholders. Store Performance & Profitability Drive results through partner deployment, customer service, product quality, sales growth, and profitability. Set expectations for customer engagement, suggestive selling, promotions, and upselling. Monitor sales, labor, inventory, waste, and expenses to improve performance. Manage cash handling, shrink, waste, and product availability to support profitability. Use business trends and staffing needs to guide scheduling and deployment. Communicate sales goals, promotions, product launches, and business priorities. Operational Excellence Ensure consistent execution of Starbucks standards, food safety, inventory, cash controls, cleanliness, and operational routines. Oversee opening and closing procedures, product quality, equipment use, and store readiness. Recruit, train, coach, and develop partners through clear expectations and feedback. Manage inventory processes, including ordering, receiving, stock levels, rotation, and waste control. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, airport security requirements, and credentialing guidelines. Partner with leadership, cross-functional teams, and property stakeholders to resolve issues and drive execution.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.3+ years of leadership experience in a fast-paced retail environment or retail training. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams in a results-driven environment. Strong communication, organizational, time management, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. Proficiency with POS systems, retail technology, Microsoft Office, and standard store equipment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require. Ability to maintain product knowledge and execute operational and merchandising standards.
