Sales Applications Engineer Job Description:

Position Summary:
Lone Star Logics is seeking an Inside Sales Applications Engineer to turn customer needs and RFQs into proposals for custom control, instrument, and electrical integration projects. Projects include control panels, PLC/HMI packages, motor control, VFDs, remote I/O, packaged systems, and related field work. This role focuses on developing a clear, buildable scope and quote.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Review RFQs, specifications, drawings, and customer emails for custom controls and integration work. Clarify what is included in the scope, what is assumed, and what must be answered before a quote is issued. Select an approach for enclosures, power distribution, PLC/HMI platforms, motor control, and I/O.Build complete quotes, including bills of material, labor, lead time, exceptions, and a technical description for the customer. Work with Panel Design, Programming, and the Shop to ensure quoted hours and hardware match how Lone Star builds the work. Support the outside salesperson or account owner with technical questions, bid reviews, and revisions. Hand awarded work to Project Management and Engineering with the quote, exceptions, and open items documented. Required Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Industrial Distribution, or equivalent estimating or applications experience.
Skills and Qualifications:
(Required)Three or more years quoting, estimating, or providing applications engineering for industrial control panels, automation, or electrical integration. Ability to read specifications, P&IDs or control narratives, one-line diagrams, and panel drawings to identify missing scope. Ability to build and explain a bill of material and labor-hours estimate. Strong written proposal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with PLC/HMI platforms and industrial hardware, particularly Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Phoenix Contact, or Modicon.
