Reports to: Transportation Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-ExemptMinimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment; Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or universityMust be able to work patiently with special needs students; Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties; Must be able to pass physical, including drug test; Fingerprint background check is required; Must pass a criminal background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School District standards; Must have, or be able to obtain, current valid CPR/First aid certificateSafe Schools Training is REQUIRED, and needs to be completed BEFORE start dateJob Description: Assist bus driver in providing safe transportation for studentsReview daily schedule and make adjustmentsOperate lift for wheelchairsEscort students to designated seatingHelp students secure seatbeltsSecure tie-downs for wheelchairsEscort students to classroom and/or wait for classroom assistantEnsure students safely enter and exit busCommunicate with classroom assistant and/or teacher/parentsMaintain bus cleanliness and safety by keeping floors dry and clear of objectsMaintain appropriate student behavior while on busEnforce the use of seatbeltsReport the health issues of each studentAssist with personal hygieneOther duties as assigned by Transportation SupervisorNondiscriminationClarkston School District does not discriminate in any programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
