About the Company:
We are an established residential construction company specializing in home remodeling and renovation projects throughout the Chicagoland area. Our high-volume operation manages more than 200 projects each year, with a strong focus on quality workmanship, efficient execution, and delivering projects on schedule. We are looking for a Field Superintendent who is comfortable managing multiple active job sites in a fast-paced environment. Our projects are short-cycle, with the average project completed in approximately 8 business days, so this is not a traditional construction role where projects sit in the field for months.
Position Overview:
The Field Superintendent will oversee the day-to-day execution of multiple residential projects, ensuring crews stay on schedule, work is completed correctly, and every project meets company quality standards. This person will manage 8 to 10 active job sites at a time, with 2 to 3 person crews at each location. You will directly coordinate carpenters, labor crews, and subcontractors while working closely with the office team on scheduling, client communication, and project administration. The right person is hands-on, organized, comfortable managing people, and able to quickly identify and resolve issues in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Operations
- Oversee 8 to 10 active residential job sites simultaneously
- Coordinate daily project execution and crew activity
- Ensure projects are completed correctly and within established timelines
- Monitor job progress and address issues before they affect completion
- Travel between active job sites throughout the workday
- Quality Control
- Inspect work throughout each stage of the project
- Ensure projects meet company quality standards and specifications
- Identify workmanship issues and coordinate necessary corrections
- Conduct final quality checks before project completion
- Crew Management
- Directly manage carpenters, labor crews, and subcontractors
- Coordinate both employee and 1099 crews
- Set expectations around quality, productivity, and project timelines
- Address performance or execution issues in the field
- Project Coordination
- Work closely with the office team handling scheduling, administration, and client communication
- Provide updates on project progress and anticipated completion
- Coordinate crews and resources to keep projects moving
- Ensure client expectations are met throughout project execution
- Qualifications2 to 5+ years of experience running construction operations, field operations, fulfillment, or a similar high-volume environment
- Residential construction experience strongly preferred
- Experience managing multiple active job sites at the same time
- Direct experience managing construction crews or field personnel
- Experience working in a high-volume, short-cycle environment
- Strong quality-control mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to quickly identify problems and find practical solutions
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Commercial construction experience may be considered if it involved quick-turnaround projects
- Must be comfortable working primarily in the field

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
