About the role
Shop Technician - Compressor & Rotating Equipment The Service Technician is responsible for providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul services for industrial air compressors, blowers, vacuum pumps, and related rotating equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, customer satisfaction, and the delivery of high-quality service. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, customer-focused, and capable of working independently in both shop and field environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform airend rebuilds accurately and efficiently according to manufacturer specifications.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, overhaul, and test air compressors, blowers, vacuum pumps, and other industrial equipment.
Balance rotor assemblies and verify tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
Conduct preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on compressors, rotating equipment, and related systems.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers both on-site and over the phone.
Deliver exceptional customer service while identifying opportunities to support and grow customer relationships.
Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Follow quality control procedures and maintain high standards of workmanship.
Maintain service vehicles, tools, testing equipment, and shop equipment in clean, safe, and operational condition.
Complete work orders, service reports, maintenance documentation, and rebuild records accurately and on time.
Assist in training and mentoring less experienced technicians as needed.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of the shop and work areas.
Support operational goals and contribute to the overall success of the service department.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
RequiredHigh school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with industrial equipment.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, pipe installation tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365.Valid driver's license and ability to maintain required site access credentials, including TWIC card.
Preferred:
Experience servicing industrial air compressors, blowers, vacuum pumps, or other rotating equipment.
Knowledge of compressor airends and rebuild procedures.
Basic electrical troubleshooting experience.
Familiarity with industrial maintenance, pneumatic systems, and preventative maintenance programs.
Certifications related to industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or equipment operation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for precision assembly and repair work.
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including industrial facilities and customer job sites.
