Coffee Shop Assistant Manager The Coffee Shop Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of the coffee shop, ensuring excellent customer service, high-quality beverages and food, and smooth team performance. This role assists the Coffee Shop Manager by leading the barista team during shifts, maintaining operational standards, and helping create a welcoming and efficient environment for both customers and staff. The Coffee Shop Assistant Manager will also be cross-trained to support convenience store operations and assist with store functions as needed. Responsibilities:
  • Oversees daily shift operations, including opening and closing procedures as assigned.
  • Supervises baristas during assigned shifts, providing guidance, support, and coaching.
  • Assists with training new staff and reinforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors inventory during shifts and reports low stock or equipment issues to management.
  • Ensures beverages and food items meet company quality standards.
  • Addresses and resolves customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintains cleanliness and operational standards during shifts.
  • Supports cash handling and end-of-shift reconciliation.
  • Maintains clear communication with the Coffee Shop Manager and team members.
  • Practices all company safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for team members and customers.
  • Provides friendly and competent customer service.
  • Assists with convenience store operations as needed, including:
  • Operating POS for store transactions.
  • Assisting customers with purchases and inquiries.
  • Stocking shelves and maintaining product displays.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the store.
  • Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.
Additional Job Duties: Assists with other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises a small team during assigned shifts.
Qualifications: Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed):High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Previous experience in a coffee shop or food service preferred. Experience leading a small team or training staff preferred. Experience in retail or convenience store operations preferred but not required.
Minimum Qualifications: Ability to supervise and motivate a small team of baristas during shifts. Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal abilities. Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Basic math and computer skills for POS operations and shift-level reporting in both coffee shop and convenience store settings. Professional, positive attitude and ability to maintain composure under pressure. Willing and able to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts. Must have a phone and reliable transportation. Must be able to communicate in English – IF APPLICABLE.
Physical Requirements: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. Physical attendance at primary work location is required.
