Controller | Private Equity-Backed Healthcare Controller | Fully Remote | $170K–$220K Base + 25–30% BonusA rapidly growing, private equity-backed healthcare organization is seeking a Controller to join its Finance leadership team. This is a high-impact opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader to take ownership of the accounting function within a complex, multi-entity healthcare environment. The organization operates a large, multi-site healthcare platform and is continuing to scale rapidly through both organic growth and acquisitions. With multiple acquisitions completed recently and several more anticipated over the next 18 months, this role will play an important part in supporting the company's continued expansion.
The Opportunity: Report directly to the CFO and serve as the senior accounting leader Lead 4 managers/supervisors across AP/AR, Accounting and Payroll, supporting a broader team of approximately 20 Own the monthly and quarterly close, financial reporting, reconciliations and US GAAP compliance Oversee general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, treasury and cash management Partner with the CFO, FP&A, Operations, Revenue Cycle and physician leadership Present financial results and variance analysis to executive leadership and the Board Lead the annual external audit and strengthen internal controls Drive automation, process improvement, systems integration and scalable accounting infrastructure Support revenue recognition and healthcare-related accounting Play a key role in M&A activity, including due diligence, purchase accounting, ERP consolidation and chart-of-accounts integration What We're Looking For 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager or similar accounting leader Strong understanding of US GAAP, technical accounting and financial reporting Experience leading month-end close, audits and financial reporting Private equity-backed experience strongly preferred Multi-entity experience required; healthcare, physician practice, MSO or other multi-site experience highly preferred Experience supporting acquisitions and integrations is a major plusCPA preferred, but relevant PE-backed and multi-entity experience is more important Candidates from non-healthcare Management Services Organizations may also be considered Strong leadership, communication and process-improvement skills Location This is a fully remote position. Candidates in NJ, PA, NYC or MA are preferred. The Controller may travel to NJ quarterly or on an as-needed basis for team meetings and face-to-face collaboration; travel is discretionary based on the needs of the role. Compensation$170K–$220K base salary, with flexibility up to $230K for the right candidate, plus a 25–30% performance-based bonus.
