Staff Electrical Engineer – Surgical Robotics Weston,
FLPosition Overview: We are seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the development of electrical subsystems for a next-generation surgical robotic platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on PCBA design, electrical system integration, testing, and troubleshooting. You will work cross-functionally with Software, Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to develop reliable electrical solutions from concept through verification, design transfer, and commercialization.
Key Responsibilities: Lead electrical design and development for major robotic subsystems. Translate system and product requirements into electrical requirements, interfaces, and designs. Design complex PCBAs, including schematics, component selection, and rigid, flex, and rigid-flex boards. Perform PCB layout reviews, board bring-up, characterization, testing, and debugging using Altium. Integrate electrical hardware with embedded software, mechanical components, and system-level architectures. Lead technical tradeoff decisions related to performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and risk. Develop and support EMC/EMI testing and verification strategies. Troubleshoot complex electrical and multidisciplinary system issues. Support design documentation, risk management, verification, design transfer, and product commercialization. Collaborate with external test laboratories and cross-functional engineering teams as needed.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.5+ years of professional electrical engineering experience. Advanced PCBA design experience, including schematic design, component selection, layout review, board bring-up, and debugging. Strong experience with Altium. Experience with rigid, flex, and/or rigid-flex PCB designs. Experience integrating electrical hardware with embedded software and mechanical systems. Knowledge of EMC/EMI design, testing, and troubleshooting. Experience with design for manufacturability and system-level electrical integration. Strong technical communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
