About the role
Junior Lash Artist at Northampton Lashes LLC Job Description Paid Training & Growth Opportunity - Part-Time | 12 hours per week to start | Starting Pay: $17/hour Northampton Lashes is expanding and hiring two part-time Junior Lash Artists to join our team. This position is designed for licensed cosmetologists or aestheticians who are newer to lash extensions and want hands-on experience, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop into confident, professional lash artists.
You do not need to be an experienced lash artist. We are looking for candidates who are licensed, dependable, detail-oriented, professional, receptive to feedback, and genuinely interested in developing their lash career. Our goal is to provide a structured path from training and supervised practice to independently servicing paying clients and building a clientele at Northampton Lashes.
Required Licensing Applicants must hold a current Massachusetts Cosmetologist or Aesthetician license and remain properly licensed while performing services at Northampton Lashes. Previous lash experience is helpful but not required. We are specifically interested in candidates who have the proper professional licensing and want to further develop their lash-extension skills.
Required 30-Day Training Availability Both new hires must be available Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM (12 hours per week). This availability is required for the entire first 30 days, regardless of whether you are applying for the eventual morning or afternoon position. The first 30 days are paid at $17/hour.
Training and onboarding will include shadowing, mannequin practice, model appointments, lash application and removal, sanitation and infection-control procedures, client experience, studio standards, Vagaro/booking procedures, cleaning, laundry, inventory, restocking, and other practical skills necessary to work independently at Northampton Lashes.
Schedule After the Initial 30 Days Following successful completion of the introductory training period, the two positions will separate into:
Morning Junior Lash Artist: Tuesday-Thursday, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
Afternoon Junior Lash Artist: Tuesday-Thursday, 1:30 PM-5:30 PM
Applicants interested in the afternoon position must still be available from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM during the first 30 days of training. There may be opportunities for additional hours as artists progress, build clientele, and Northampton Lashes continues to grow.
Compensation & Earning Potential All scheduled working time during the initial training period is paid at $17/hour, including training, shadowing, model work, cleaning, sanitation, laundry, restocking, inventory, and other assigned studio responsibilities.
After the introductory period, Junior Artists will have the opportunity to progress through Northampton Lashes' tiered compensation structure. As an artist demonstrates improved technique, timing, retention, consistency, professionalism, and the ability to independently service paying clients, their earning potential increases. Artists can progress from introductory hourly pay into higher service-based compensation as their experience, speed, service level, and clientele grow. This position is intended to provide long-term earning growth - not remain a $17/hour position indefinitely.
Specific compensation tiers, advancement requirements, and earning potential will be discussed during the interview process so candidates have a clear understanding of how they can progress within Northampton Lashes.
Responsibilities:
Junior Lash Artists will be responsible for providing lash services appropriate to their demonstrated skill level while maintaining Northampton Lashes' standards for quality, cleanliness, and client experience. When not servicing a client or model, scheduled working time may include:
Cleaning and sanitizing treatment areas
Disinfecting implements and surfaces
Laundry and restocking supplies
Maintaining inventory and organizing work areas
Preparing treatment rooms
Shadowing and practicing lash techniques
Continuing education and assisting with general studio upkeep
Cleaning and maintaining the studio are normal paid responsibilities of this position and are expected of all Junior Artists during non-client time.
What We're Looking For:
Currently licensed in Massachusetts as a Cosmetologist or Aesthetician
Genuinely interested in specializing in lash extensions
Reliable and punctual
Professional and friendly with clients
Detail-oriented and patient
Extremely attentive to cleanliness and sanitation
Comfortable receiving constructive feedback
Willing to practice and continuously improve
Comfortable completing cleaning and studio-support responsibilities
Able to follow established procedures and service standards
Interested in growing with Northampton Lashes long-term
Able to maintain the polished, natural aesthetic Northampton Lashes is known for

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
