Duties and Responsibilities: (Work assignments mayvarydepending on th e department ' s ne e d s andwillbecommunicatedtoth e applicant or i ncumben t by the s upe rvisor. ) Receive s emergencyand non-em e rg e ncy call s, i nc l uding e nhanced 911, and non - eme r gen c y calls fromthe public, l aw enforcement, fir e and EM S agenciesviatelephone, radio s ystem s a nd CAD systems; D eter m ines prioriti e s of allca lls andd is patche s required unit s and/or age nc ies; Re ce ive s rad i o ca lls fromfield uni t s; Transm i t s messagesviaradio, tele pho ne, compu t e r, fax, or oth e r communicationequipment; Makesinquiries of various s ource s toobtain requ este d in for mati on or services byphoneor co mpute r automatedcommunicati o n equ i pment; Dispatch e s the ass i gnm en t of f i eld unit s andro ut es them to th escene ofemergency situ a t ions; Cr eates andmaintains auto mat ed and/or manualrecord s ofpubl i c safetycommun ic ations activitie s; Mai nt a i n s appropriate security andconf i denti a lity of information cre a ted or enco unter e d inth e pe rforma nce of ass igneddut i es; May be assi gn e d to train newhired ispat ch ersa nd comp l e te andsubmit progr essreports and evaluations ontraine es; Mayb e a ss ignedlimited supervisory du tie s on at e mpor a ry ba si s.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of Publicserviceactivities, theorganization, policies, andmethodsof county government; The rules andregulations ofthe Federal Communications Commissioncovering the operation of radioreceiversand transmitters; Effectiveverbalcommunicationstechniques, particularly for communicating withother par t ies under s tress; The proper use andcareof radio and telephone equipment; Geographyof Wagoner County, locationsoftowns, citiesand communities, major and minor roadways/highways, andlikeinformation. Skillin Observingsit u ations analytically andobjectively and recording them clearlyandcompletely; Handlingsituationsfirmly, courteously, tactful l y, and impartially; Operating rad io, telephone, k eyboard, computertermin a l, and relatedcommunicat i ons equipment; Creatingand maintaining manualandautomated l ogs andother records of public safety communications activities;
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Licensesand
Certifications: Allpositions in t h i s classification r e quire attaining andmaintainingaccess certifications by the Sheriff'sDepartment, stateandfederalagenciesforcriminal history databasesandassociated co mmunications systems. Failuretoobta in /ma int ain suc h certifications may be grounds for termination.
